Three DTU spin-outs open on Nasdaq First North Denmark

Three DTU spin-outs listed on Nasdaq First North Denmark Growth Market in June 2020 to obtain new capital and penetrate new markets.


In June 2020, Shape Robotics, LED iBond and FOM Technologies listed on Nasdaq First North Growth Market for small and medium-sized enterprises. The purpose of the stock exchange listing is to obtain new capital and penetrate new markets to strengthen sales internationally.

FOM Technologies

FOM (Functional Organic Materials) was established in 2012 on the basis of a coating machine, developed at DTU, that makes it possible to mass produce plastic solar cells. The technology that enables mass production is called ‘slot die coating’ and is done using a coating machine, where you practically print a material on either glass or thin sheets of plastic. The printing means that it is possible to distribute ultra-thin and completely uniform layers of a material on a large surface.

Shape Robotics

Shape Robotics was established in 2011 based on patented technology from DTU. They develop and produce the so-called Fable Robots. Fable is a robotic construction system that makes it easy for anyone to create their own robots. Different types of modules can be snapped together in countless ways to create the robot's body, senses and movements. Thus, the Fable Robot teaches programming, innovation, problem solving, creativity and much more with adaptable lessons from 3rd grade to University.

LED iBond

LED IBond is a LED lighting company established in 2014. The company creates innovative lighting solutions based on patented technology from DTU. They engineer, design and manufacture sustainable lighting elements that are reliable, adaptable and highly efficient, as well as offering new and exciting possibilities for shape and form.  Some of their focus areas are developing greener buildings, creating solutions for vertical farming and other ways of enhancing agricultural production, and disinfecting UV light to fight the spread of viruses and bacteria.
